La mexicana Salma Hayek, los españoles Ana Asensio y Antonio Méndez Esparza y el chileno Sebastián Lelio son los artistas latinos nominados en la 33 edición de los premios Spirit del cine independiente, anunció hoy la institución Film Independent que organiza estos galardones.

Call Me By Your Name, con seis nominaciones, es la principal favorita para estos reconocimientos, seguida de Get Out y Good Time, con cinco candidaturas cada una.

Asimismo, Lady Bird y The Rider obtuvieron cuatro menciones por cabeza.

El Spirit a la mejor película se lo disputarán los largometrajes Call Me By Your Name, The Florida Project, Get Out, Lady Bird y The Rider.

La mexicana Salma Hayek, por su papel en Beatriz At The Dinner, competirá por el premio a la mejor actriz frente a Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Margot Robbie (I, Tonya), Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), Shinobu Terajima (Oh Lucy!) y Regina Williams (Life And Nothing More).

El galardón al mejor actor cuenta como aspirantes con Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), Harris Dickinson (Beach Rats), James Franco (The Disaster Artist), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) y Robert Pattinson (Good Time).

El cineasta chileno Sebastián Lelio luchará con A Fantastic Woman por el Spirit a la mejor película extranjera frente a BPM (Francia), I Am Not a Witch (Zambia), Lady Macbeth (Reino Unido) y Loveless (Rusia).

Asimismo, los realizadores españoles Ana Asensio (Most Beautiful Island) y Antonio Méndez Esparza (Life And Nothing More) serán candidatos al premio John Cassavetes, que reconoce a la mejor película rodada con un presupuesto inferior al medio millón de dólares.

En esta categoría también fueron nominadas las cintas Dayveon, A Ghost Story y The Transfiguration.

Los ganadores de los premios Spirit se conocerán el próximo 3 de marzo, justo un día antes de que se celebren los Óscar.
