Una fuerte movilización se registró durante la mañana de este martes cuando un hombre abrió fuego cerca de un edificio federal del centro de Chicago.
De acuerdo con el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS), los disparos se reportaron en el Edificio Federal Kluczynski.
🛑 Shots Fired Outside Chicago Federal Building That Houses DHS 🛑 Around 4:27 a.m. Central this morning, a man opened fire outside 230 S. Dearborn, the Kluczynski Federal Building near Jackson Boulevard in Chicago's Loop. The building houses DHS offices. A Federal Protective Service officer reported an active shooter. Police recovered about 15 shell casings and one gun. A bullet hit a window across the block at 231 S. LaSalle. By the grace of God, nobody was hit. Federal property took minor damage. Chicago police arrested the man. His motive and target are still unknown, and DHS says the investigation is active. Eyewitness video from the scene shows officers standing over evidence markers on the sidewalk. Federal officers and the people who work in these buildings have been under constant threat. Anyone who opens fire on a federal building should face every federal charge on the books.

Autoridades mencionaron que sus agentes arribaron hasta el lugar después de que un guardia de seguridad reportó un tirador activo cerca del inmueble.
Después de llevar a cabo el despliegue, los elementos de seguridad lograron detener al responsable. Aunque el motivo del ataque aún es desconocido, se mantiene abierta la investigación para esclarecer lo sucedido.
La torre de oficinas alberga a varias agencias federales, entre ellas el Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS), la Administración del Seguro Social y el Departamento de Trabajo, lo que puso en duda la seguridad desplegada.
La policía de Chicago informó que recuperó un arma de fuego. 15 casquillos percutidos.
Nadie resultó herido y solo hubo daños menores a propiedad federal.
